About the Department
The Department of Chemistry has come into existence since the inception of the institute in the year 2008. The department is involved in teaching Engineering Chemistry theory and laboratory course to the students of different engineering disciplines. The staffs of the department are actively involved in teaching interdisciplinary courses and also in research.
The Department of Chemistry has been recognized as a research centre of VTU, Belagavi in the year 2011. The major research areas in the department are Electrochemistry, Materials for energy applications, Synthesis and applications of nanomaterials, development of sensors and biosensors, kinetics and catalysis, co-ordination chemistry, organometallic chemistry and environmental chemistry.
